New Patients

Getting Started

Step 1

Complete the new patient request form via the secure patient portal. This will help collect preliminary information about whether we might be a good fit for each other.

Step 2

While waiting for a response you may use this tool to request information about your out-of-network insurance benefits — Insurance Tool

Step 3

Next, we'll schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation. We'll use this time to help me better understand your needs, and to answer your questions about my practice.

Step 4

If we both agree that we might be a fit for each other, then we'll schedule an initial evaluation appointment. This can be done in-person at my offices in Menlo Park or Palo Alto, or via telehealth from anywhere in California.

Initial Evaluation Appointments For Children And Adolescents

Step 1

You will be sent a questionnaire to complete prior to the first consultation so that our time together will be more meaningful.

Step 2

Next, we'll have a 90-minute appointment with the parent(s) and the child or adolescent present. Part of this time will be spent with the child or adolescent alone, and part will be spent with the parents.

Step 3

Between the first and second consultation I'll send additional questionnaires and gather information from additional people such as therapists or teachers.

Step 4

Then we'll meet again to review everything I've learned about your young person. At this point I'll share diagnoses and make recommendations regarding treatment. If we mutually feel we're a good fit for each other and agree on a treatment plan then you can consider me your doctor and we'll continue to have appointments.
